Original black-and-white Wide World press photograph, approximately 8 x 10 inches, showing the welcoming group assembled for Howard Hughes and his crew of four upon the completion of their record around-the-world flight in 1938. Approximate physical print dimensions: 8 × 10 in. (203 × 254 mm).

The original Wide World Photo caption on the verso is headed ‘Ready to Greet ’Round-the-World Fliers’ and identifies the Brooklyn scene at Floyd Bennett Field. It records the crew’s arrival on July 14, 1938 after completing a record flight around the world in 91 hours and 14 minutes, and identifies several people awaiting the landing.

Appears to be a contemporaneous press photograph, supported by the original Wide World caption and the July 17, 1938 reference-library receipt stamp.

Condition: Moderate handling and marginal wear, surface creasing, and a large area of adhesive staining on the verso. Original caption and archive markings remain present.
